    How to load a Mauser?

OK gun guys, I just ordered a K98. I have some boxes of ammo (1937) and a few stripper clips I found in my pouches. Is there a good site your aware of, that shows how to load one properly?

    Thanks!

This now makes my last 4 WWII purchases guns or gun related.

Jaime, Speak of the devil, I just posted some photos under the "original photos" thread, one shows a German soldier loading his 98k via stripper clips.
    hope that helps,
    Bri

Thanks Brian I saw that, I figure once I get the gun I'll probably be able to figure it out myself. But I was hoping there may be a good site out there that may show the proper method (without pinching fingers) and other info such as take down etc.

Hi Jaime, really it is quite simple... the rear reciever bridge of the 98k has a small cutout that the stripper clip slides into. you will notice on the left hand side of the k98k reciever just afore of the rear bridge is a cutout about the size of your thumb. if you insert the clip until it rests on the follower, and push down on the top round with your thumb, the rounds will click into place in the magazine well, and your thumb will end up in the cutout area when the fifth round is chambered. you can then either remove the stripper clip by hand, or simply push the bolt forward and chamber a round ( this action will remove the stripper clip as well).

as far as takedown, I can't remember the url, but it is on the links page of my website. it is Keith Boell's k98k page. I think there are general disassembly, assembly, and cleaning and care tips there.

Thanks once again Brian. The local gun shop I placed the order with last night has a "take down" brochure for $6.95.

I'll try to find the site linked from your site to help offset me being taxed on the purchase from my home state and the $40 the local shop charged me for the transfer.
