great pix, thanks! i was looking at a new issue of one of those ww2 history mags and in an article on the st. naizarre (sp?) dock attack there was a pic of a german MG crew. they had 98k's, holstered p38's and an MG08/15. neat!

          If it's scopes you want...

          Hello all,
if it's some nice shots of snipers and their weapons you are after, then here are some of my favourites (hope some are new to you).
Here's a happy looking Soldat posing with his new toy.

                Posed, and somewhat conspicuous position
(note his divisional insignia on his M43...i've lost my book of Div signs somewhere, so i can't tell what it is yet.....i think it's a Panzer division. )

                  The last.

                  And here's the last.
I almost posted this on the helmet forum, as it is such a good clear shot of a chinstrap buckle. If you look closely however, you can see a regimental marking on the scope...... "jager Regiment 10".

Hope you liked them and that some were new to you.

                  All the best,

                  Patrick.

                    Hi Patrick,

                    Very nice pictures indeed.

Just one remark on your last post. The letters JR 10 should be read as IR 10. The I was written as a J so no one would misread it as a 1(one). The unit would thus be Infanterie Regiment 10.

                    MfG,
                    Bart

Nice Photo's Patrick, Little does he know how much that rifle would be worth 60 years later.

I agree with Bart on the J and I as on award documents and wehrpasses etc the I in infantry appears as a J. This confused me a lot when I first saw it on an award document, making me think it was miss typed

                      Regards
                      Phil

soldier loading a 98k with a stripper clip

                        Brian M.
Very nice pictures. Is the soldier loading his 98k with a stripper clip wearing a "beaded" M-35 style helmet? If so that is interesting because I thought they were rejected for front line service.
                        Thanks,
                        John

Hi John, good question. I can't tell. perhaps it is a camo wire as well. this was shown to me as a series of Russian front photos, although many in this series are on the Western front. if the photo was taken in Ostland, anything is possible to show up on the front lines. it is also entirely possible that this was a staged or propeganda type photo.

                            Ppsh

                            Brian,
Hello fellow g43 fan! Hey I was wondering what happened to that photo of the German Pioneer that I sent you, he had a PPSH and I was able to provide his name, unit and location.
I think think that it was a nice one for your already "fantastic" set of pic's showing use of enemy weapons.
Not to be a pain, just interested!
                            Regards,
                            Robert
