    MAUSER HSc

    Hi folks,

I would like to present you to my Mauser HSc. This one one of the first ones made under French occupation. According to a Forum Member (Hoch Adler), the production to Wehrmacht ended in serial number around 952.000. Mine is 955.xxx and bears the "RW" French Mark and it is a matching number gun with a nice grey-greenish finish and wooden grips.

I´ll let the pictures do the talking.

    Hope you enjoy it.

    Douglas.

              very nice

I have two of these. One very simular condition and one exceptional one. Strangely enough I know very little of the history of this neat little pistol. If anyone could enlighten me to how these where distributed and to which officers received this particular pistol. Why did some have these over the other more common pistols around at the time or was it shortages of those other pistols which increased demand on the Hsc?

I personally think The walther PP was the pick of the 32cal pistols.

              Nice pics

              regards

                Mauser HSc

                Douglas:
This is a nice representative French assembled HSc. As you can see from the slide without the Eagle/N firing proofs on the right side, this slide was leftover from Third Reich stocks and used by the French. Many of these pistols were shipped to the French forces in Indo-China (Viet Nam) in the 40's and 50's. Your pistol appears to have had considerable honest usage and could have been one of those.

Nice pistole! Got one myself! (Ser. No. 967xxx). These French produced examples are also referred to as "3rd Series."

Unlike the PP, the Mauser HSc is a true pocket pistol with clean lines and no external hammer to snag on clothes. The HSc has a safety that locks the firing pin into the top of the slide. The striker cannot possibly hit the firing pin in this position. The HSc can safely be carried both with the hammer down in double action mode or cocked and locked. Try that with a PP!

I wasn't knocking the HSc pistols (didn't mean to offend you Mauser HSc). Like I said I own two and they are real sweeties 909### with original Eagle/Na markings still both sides of frame behind trigger.
Like you say the action/hammer design make these very safe to carry and they perform very reliably.
The reasons I like the PP better is quicker/easier to dismantle & clean. More comfortable grip & trigger. Purely all personal reasons.

Thanks for the coments but I'd still like to know more about the issueing of the HSc to the Germans during WWII not post war activities.

                    many thanks & regards

                      Alles in ordnung!

No offense taken. I like PPs too!

I do more than just HScs. I'll be posting some pix of my first Luger pretty soon.

Guess I should have picked a more original handle!
