by serial number it would be sometime in late 1943, early 1944.
is it Du-lite finished or Parkerized? if it is Du-lite it is definitely 1943. the barrel stamp is probably HS (High Standard) one of the correct subcontractors for Remington Rand barrels.

it is a fairly common WW2 made piece, but if all original and in excellent condition it is fairly valuable. what are the markings on the magazine floor plate lips? also does it have a kraft shipping box. are the grips correct key grips?

ok, 1911's are my baby so...remington rand was a major contractor of m1911a1's during ww2. in fact the war dept said they contributed more to the improvement and speedy production than any other mfgr. your pistol is a 1943 mfg gun. "P" is a military acceptance mark and HS is high standard who made barrels for rem-rand, US&S and ithaca. FJA is Frank J. Atwood who was a gov. inspector who's initials were stamped on the frames of rem-rand AND ithaca 1911a1's. original m1911a1's are very collectable. i've seen prices hovering around 800.00-plus for 95% examples, but as always, caveat emptor! i wouldn't worry too much about "original" mags since there is no such thing! most collectors like to have a sub-contractor's mag w/their gun, though. L= ms little co., R= ridson mfg co., S= scoville mfg co. these are all subcontractors for rem-rand. mags were always mixed up! of course it's necessary to see the pistol for a true evaluation, but i hope this helps! rem-rands are one of my favorite's and i'd put them up against a colt GI .45 any day! i hope this helps.........

providing it's all original and correct, 600.00 is a good price. i've seen ASKING prices over a grand, and some, depending on maker/condition way higher.
