    sn138 & sn 138

This may be the best find of my collecting life. I had the P38 (sn138) and was looking to purchase a P08. I called a dealer and told him what I wanted. He had one Luger left, as he had just sold a second Luger. I asked about SNs. He told me the SN of the one gun which was still available, and when I inquired about the SN of the Luger already sold, he told me it was 138. I prit ' near crapped myself. I calmly asked him if it was possible for me to somehow purchase the gun already sold to someone else. He said he would look into it for me.

A few headaches and a little trouble later, I received the P08 sn138 in the mail.

No joke here. Both pistols are all matching and each has serial number 138! No prefix, no suffix...just 138.

When I sell these guns, they WILL go as a pair.

    Good collecting!

      Hi Douglas,

Appreciate the comments. Here is a link to the Day Badge in the grip. As I recall, the toggle is marked S/38 1942....Does that seem correct?

Yes, that is a funny story. How were you able to get the gun that was sold to someone else? That is surprising!

Yes that AC45 P38 looks excellent! and very rare too! I love it
        !

          Hi Matt,

The dealer was actually such a decent guy that he contacted the purchaser of P08 #138, and asked him if he was willing to take another Luger. He was, and then sent it back to the Dealer, who then voided the original transfer/ sale paperwork. Two new sets of ATF/ sales forms were then generated.

Why can't ALL Dealers be so enthusiastic!

          Regards,

Wow that is surpising that a dealer would do that!
What is even more surprising, is that the original buyer sent it back!
The Dealer must have gave him a better deal on another luger, otherwise, why send it back?
Anyways, it worked out good for you! Great find!

            Matt
