Opinions on early camo MG lavette

    Hello gents

My friend just found a pritty nice MG lavette..we didn`t saw one like this before..most of the time they are just in normal grey or green collor. Somes tan collored (like Africa collor)

He asked me to post it on the forum because he likes to know were this combi collors were used. And maybe by who. (I heared someting like Normandy collor..but I suppose it`s just one of those tails. I only know this is early)

    Thanks in advance!!!

    best regards Tommy

      Re Paint job

      Hi thier.

The german forces were issued thier paint in a paste form that was then mixed with petrol or a suitable solvent. This gave a very large range of colours from the basic quantity ( more pigment sronger colour and vice versa )

Equipment and vehicles were painted at factory in the base coat. Early period grey or later period dark yellow. After that they were not shy about camoflaging to the local conditions or theater . Thier were some basic patterns availiable, however they were applied by the crews or by the user of the equipment so the variations are many.

Hard to tell what is the base coat on your pics but it certainly looks good enough for central europe.
The darker brown looks more like the DAK dark tan as opposed to the european dark yellow but htat could be age and storage greases staining the original pigment.

      hope this helps
      tim

That colour is the pre war german 3 tone camo that you find also on other equipment. Nothing to do with Normandy camo, or applied to use in a special area of action. That is the regular camo used before 40 . Sometimes it is also called" Reichswehr Camo". Laffettes in that camo are verry rare.
