    k98s with zf41s....and K43s

Just a small sampling. All textbook correct and matching (except mounts in some case). On top is a "byf44" "Kriegsmodell".....then a mint "byf44" and on the bottom a "ar43".

Next a few K43s..........the top one is a "qve45" with the correct blued "WaA214" mount...then a complete matching "ac44" with matching numbered mount (WaA359) and correct "K43" marked scope. On bottom is another "ac44".

Hey Willi, I know zip about these rifles but I do know about shooting (I was taught by my father who was very successful shot in the forces).

My question on these is how on earth do the scopes on the K98 rifles work with it being so far away from the shooters eye?

      Beautiful rifles, by the way.

Very very nice Willi, it is hard nowadays to find original rifles in such condition on the open market. most true rigs have disappeared into private collections now. it would be very very difficult to find examples like that for sale now, and very costly.
p.s. I like the G43 pouch. what is the code on the pouch, looks like a somewhat typical ROS44. is it ersatz leather or vinyl?

p.s. keep me in mind if you ever decide to move the Ar43. I had a shot at a very mint Ar43 Zf41 rig about 3 years ago complete with can, sling, shades, the whole deal for less than $2000 and was too slow on the draw.... I'm still heartbroken over it.

Bria, the pouch is "ersatz" and coded "fuq44"..those are my favorite style of pouch and this one is mint. As you know....rather rare.

Richard, the scope is a low power magnification (I think 1.75x) and is of a long-eye relief. You sight down the rifle as if using iron sights. It provides an interesting view and allows one to still see the entire area. Col Jeff Cooper was impressed enough by this system to encourage Steyr to creat a "scout rifle" in the '80s using the same concept.

Willi, here is a similar fuq 1945 pouch from a friend's website:

let me know if you run across any similar pouches, I would like to add one of these light tan colored ersatz, vynil, or rubberized webbing, either dla, ros, or fuq code to my collection.

Will do Brian....have not seen a nice one for sale for years. Here is a better pic of mine on a FJ display, of how FJs looked in early '45. That style of K43 pouch has always been my favorite.
