What colour was the German WW2 torpedoes? Brass? Copper? Painted?

Torpedo colors
The information I have is that the torpedos were silver/steel body with a medium to dark grey war head. Practice torpedos had a red and white segmented color war head. Bodies were either steel or dark green. The copper or brass color that they appear in some photos of the fish being loaded onto the U-Boat is due to the liberal coating of grease they recieved to help in the loading process. I see models with the torpedos painted with copper or brass colored war heads and tails or dark grey bodies ( Verlinden comes to mind ). These are very attractive but I don't know where these color schemes come from.
