    Radom P.35 Issue- Slide catch

    Gents,

I recently picked up a nice early pre-alphabet Radom P.35. It is in beautiful shape and I am very pleased with it. There seems to be an issue with the slide catch (it doesn't hold the slide open when there is an empty mag in the gun). I field stripped it and oiled the slide catch and the magazine and that didn't work.

Any ideas? I was also thinking that the spring in the mag might not be strong enough anymore to exert enough upward pressure on the catch...

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated....

Does the slide lock work manually with no magazine in the gun? If so, then it sounds like a magazine problem, as you said, since the spring pushes the follower upward against the lock.

Yes it does work manually when there is no mag in...if I push on it with my finger it catches the slide fine. Thanks!

Could be the spring or the magazine body. I once had a PP magazine that would not work the slide lock. The problem was the body, the top of which pinched the follower, preventing it from travelling all the way to the top.
