    Serial numbers on stocks

Hypothetically speaking...On a Replacement stock that the Germans put on a weapon, would they stamp the stock with the weapons serial number? I have an old S/147 and it has a laminate stock, and I know it should have a walnut stock, and it has the number of the barrel/receiver serial number stamped on it. Its a nice gun, and it even has Luftwaffe L stamp with the proofs. Just wondering. Thanks for any help.
    Regards,
    Mike

No I dont think they did but I am not 100% sure though, is yours laminate as in the bakelite stock or wooden?

Interesting question. I don't know the answer, but considering the Germans' attention to detail, yes it's likely. It could be that the rifle had seen service and then being in need of repair was sent to the factory which at that time had changed to laminate stocks in production thus installing such a stock.

It could also be an uncompleted rifle that for some reason didn't get completed until they'd switched to laminate stocks? Unlikely perhaps, but they did have parts/rifles lying around.

What WaA's are on the stock? Do they match the rifle?

Thanks 08, It has a different stock. Like you said, maybe it got arsenal repaired and they mated it with another, however the stock has all WaA 26's on all the stock type items. My rifle is an original S/147 made in 1937, so it should have originally had a hard wood stock. Also, see my other post...Luftwaffe Proof Stock. This is whats on it now. Thanks for the input. I will be out of town for a couple of days, so might not be able to respond right away. Oh, and mine has some of the thos K's also, from your thread. Might be an inspection stamp of some kind. Later guys.
        Regards,
        Mike
