BYF-41 Bringback

Here is a complete rig bringback. It is an early "byf-41".
The tool is marked E/135.
The metal twine tied to the closure strap is where the customs tag was tied at one time. Unfortunately it has been lost.
Sidney Yaverbaum was a member of the 91st division. The 91st served in Italy. Most likely this pistol was picked up there.

Thats just an awesome first series 41 in excellent condition. Overall nice original bluing and is that dried up oil that has given the safety a goldish color. Love seeing these pistols with the complete package and the capture paper to boot.

You are right it is grease on the safety. I never cleaned all of the original cosmo off of the gun. He really took care of it.

If I see the photo correctly, there is no letter suffiz under the frame serial numbers. If that is indeed the case this is actually a very late 1941 production, probably made near the last week of that year!

Are the right receiver stamps 135 or 655? That 135 marked tool is probably worth $200+.

You are right. It is a later one. It is not one of the mixed E/135/E655 codes. I wish it were.
The E/135 tools are hard to find. I have another one in a "byf-42" rig. They are the only two that I have seen in a long time.
