    Luger from Local Vet

Here is a fairly common Luger variation but I thought that I might share it with you.
This gun was aquired from a local veteran here in my hometown area.
The veteran said that the German he took it of was wearing the pistol underneath his clothing. This explains the unique field made holster.
This holster is made out of the same hide material you'll find in the German heavy winter coats and fleece lined hats.

Great! That is the kind of Luger rig I've been after for a long time. Really nice find there!

Does the vet recall when/where he got it ? I notice the capture papers are dated 1946 so I assume he also did some occupation duty.

The date is a little hard to read but looks like he actually took it off the German in Jan 1945 and the document is signed August 1945 when I assume he was returning home...

                        Most Excellent!!!

                        Most Excellent, Most excellent.

The holster is especially cool. Early concealed carry, I would imagine.

Thanks for showing this to us!!

The Jan '45 date refers to the date on which the ETO reg regarding trophies was made official. It is interesting that this authorization form is free-style and not the more common official form that we are used to seeing.

Doesn't get better than that!!! I know the son of a vet who has a p-38.with capture papers. He won't sell it for anything!! I'll keep trying.
