    New today, a 1939 papered TT-33

Just got this. It's in nice untouched condition from a vet. All matching including the magazine. Bring back/capture papers dated June 1945 to a soldier in the 114th Inf.

Does anyone know where that unit served and if it was any where near Russian troops and if not then it was probably been taken from a German who captured it from the Russians.

Hi Ray, here is the website for the 44th Inf Div, of which 114th Inf Regt was a part. They ended the war in Austria, so contact with the Red Army and a trade was possible, but I suspect the TT33 was a captured weapon used by a German soldier.

                  Ray,
                  That's a nice piece.
Will the mag fit into the spare mag pouch on the holster?

I just tried the magazine in the pouch and it doesn't fit. The mag is way to wide. Didn't even notice that when I got it. I wonder what the holster is from. There are no marking on it at all but the gun has holster wear were it contacted the holster with wear marks transfered to the holster in the same places so it had been in in a while, Ray

                      Ray,
It most likely came home in that holster.
Your holster is probably not marked? Without seeing the gun next to it for scale it is hard to guess what it might be for.
One of the best ways to find out is to start putting mags in that pouch and see what fits it best. Interesting holster.

I used the wrong words, no way could I try the magazine in the pouch as the magazine is way wider then the pouch. One look and you could see it wouldn't go in, LOL The gun fits in the holster perfectly just like it was made for it that's way I didn't even notice the pouch was too small. Ray

Ok. That helps. I would start with a 1922 Browning or Mad D.
They use long and narrow mags.
By the way, I'm not saying the holster is incorrect. If it came home that way, it came home that way. Which is fine.
I'm not suggesting that you change it or anything like that. I like holsters and your holster just caught my attention that's all.
Again, nice rig and congratulations on a nice find. Mine is the only other doucmented WWII bringback rig that I have seen. I'm sure that they are out there but they are just not that common.
Also finding one in the condition that your's is in, is uncommon too. The Tokarevs, I would imagine, saw lots of use.

Thanks Adrian, that's a very impressive site. It not only has the 44th Div history but also has a lot of other info about the war and US and German weapons, battles, etc, Ray
