M12 Steyr in 9mm... It does nat state if it is in 9mm Steyr or 9mm Parabellum..(luger) But I would think 9mm parabellum (luger) since they were modified to that cal. by the Germans...BILL

          Bill,
          Thanks for the photos.
I see that the manual has a photo of a CZ-27. That is interesting becasue the manual is dated 1941. The 41 dated CZ-27 police E/K is the rarest of the rare.
          Only a few are known.

                    Hi Bill,

To answer your question about the "Steyr Pistole M12 (9mm)," they were used in both calibers by the police. Most of the ones that were refurbished by the Germans in 1941 (the date of your Fischer manual) were rebarreled in 9mm Parabellum and marked "08" to signify this conversion on the left front slide. Some were refurbished without reworking the barrel and remained in 9mm Steyr caliber. Of course the nomenclature and take down remained the same as indicated by your exploded diagrams from the manual. Most of the Polizei marked pistols one will find today are in 9mm Parabellum.

                    I hope this helps.

                    George

What a wealth of information on police equipment. Great find.

The Fischer manual section on the Steyr-Hahn does mention that both calibers issued are used by the German police. The 9mm Steyr were naturally not refurbished, while others were arsenal reworked to 9mm Parabellum and accepted with the E/L. The first manuals were issued in January 1940. If I remember correctly, there were five printings with last in 1944. The changing printing reflected the addition of newer pistols;ie. 1940 did not include the HSc.

Are these rare ina ny way and do they exist from several years ?
I see thisone is from 1941.

Kris, I don't know if the manuals are rare, but they can be found at shows. I sold an extra at the last SOS. As I wrote above, I remember five printings from the years 1940 through 1944. The dates are 1940, 1941, 1943 and 1944, with two printings in the year 1940.
