Without see any pictures it is a little bit hard to add anything more than just say that itis a very early production example. If I´m not mistaken, HSc production started at 700,000 serial number. Also, the Eagle/N is the standard commercial proof from that period (c. 1939/40) - which does not mean that it was not used as sidearm during the war.
But, for sure, everyone would love to see the pictures.

Hi folks,
Bill sent me the picture of his Mauser HSc and here it is. It would be great if we could see other details (like the proof marks) but from here, looks like a very nice early example, with high polish blueing.
