That pistol most certainly looks reblued. If reblued, that dramatically impacts the value.

I don't believe that this pistol "looks" reblued. It looks almost new or "mint". It may well be a reblue but if so it's a very professional job. I have no idea how common professional reblues are in the middle of the Med. They are common here in the US.

If possible to research the history of this pistol, the exercise may prove to be very worthwhile. The pistol could be a pristine original and if it is the price makes it a steal. Real high resolution of the pistol broken down would help.

I thought the date on the reciever looked a bit shallow. I think a US faker would have been more careful in going around it. As previously stated, pics must be crystal clear. Another thing I always do when getting ready to buy a luger is look at it in direct sunlight!! I know it sounds crazy, but I learned this from an old-timer. I had a luger that looked perfectly good under typical gun store lighting, but in the sun the blue was three distinctly different shades of blue. Charlie

Hard to tell about the blueing from here. But the peice that releases the barrel above the trigger (slide release mechanism) is NOT serialed to the gun. Obviously this part would wear out fast/be prone to breaking, but check the internal parts they're numbered as well. Go get "The Luger Handbook."

The gun was alaso examined in hand by another Maltese WAF member Mantoine and he too think that it was either reblued or else it's never used a holster and never fired. It's as though it just came out of the factory .

Well, i think here in the EU people +20 years ago didn't care about reblued or not.
If the finish was off, you got it reblued.
It's only later it became relevant to collectors.
Anyway, that's how i feel it here in Belgium.

Henri, reblued or not, it stays a very nice Luger

Why not look specifically for a reblued gun? Then you get a better price, and won't lose money if you sell. Think of an RK with polished frame and re-paint on core. Still a valueable piece, but how hard to sell? Charlie

                  Hello Henri,

My comments about your post :
The S-code Krieghoff one comes from a batch of 1800 guns out of a total of 12200 Krieghoff totaly produced exclusively for the Luftwaffe.

It is an extremely rare and desirable one that a few people only in the world have.
The price seems high but how can someone estimate the price of a such a beauty !!!

                  Best Regards.

                  Simon

S-code Krieghoff made in 1935. It's in 95% condition, all matching (except mag). 5000€

1916-dated DWM in 95% + condition and matching (except mag), regimentally marked. - 2200€

How do they sound and what about these prices . To me they seem rather expensive.

                  Thanks
