    I should hope NOT! Removed from the tree it is just a junky old MG 34. Left in place however and you have a truly interesting artifact!

      must be a fairly old picture in 60+ years those trees should be a lot bigger i live in the farm coutry of michigan and have come across all kinds of things people have nailed to trees but never an MG34 thanks for the cool pic frank v

        About 12 years ago a Winchester Model 1873 was found that had been left against a tree and forgotton. The tree grew around the 73 and obviously the finish on the rifle was a tad rough. Unfortunately the people pulled the rifle out of the tree and were left with a rusted hulk of a rifle. If they had left it in the tree though it would have been worth quite a bit as a historical artifact.

          The farmer did exactly what Gary mentioned. He digged out the tree and planted the tree again in his garden. On the left side of the pic you
          can see the fence of his garden.

          Thats what I call a nice decoration
