    Luger Question

Looking at a byf 42 Luger. It is matching and has walnut grips. Are most grips marked to the piece or unmarked?

That late in production I wouldn't expect Mauser to have been numbering the grips.

Interesting enough these have the last two digits of the serial nr. stamped into them. I've seen this also on another pair of the same model. Probably stamped in some and not on others with no rhyme or reason.

I actually read up on a good Luger site that they should be at least marked with the two digit serial nr. Unmarked examples are NOT the norm.

I have had many wooden gripped lugers, from a 1910 DWM to a BYF 42, and all had the last two numbers on each panel, but I'm also sure the fakers know this.

The grips should be serialed to the pistol.

I had a nice byf-42 with walnut grips. Gun was numbered 600L. All small parts, incl. grips were marked " OO ". Mags. were marked(alum) 600L. Stolen-Jul 7, 2002. Charlie
