    K98 info

Are there any websites that deal with the technical aspect of the mauser k98? I have been looking around for a while for a site that covers things like, parts diagrams, weapon takedown, etc.
    Anyone able to help?

Is anyone able to tell me what is the interchangeability of parts like for these? I have a CE 1943 k98 made by JP Sauer and am curious about from what other k98's will parts fit for replacement parts.

any help would be most appreciated, thanks

Just be damn carefull when taking the bolt appart and removing the springs, that thing can bite! I only worked out what the take down disk was for after nearly shredding my hand. With non bolt dissasembly the hardest thing your going to come up against will be the band spring, some are so tight but others are easy, just use a rubber mallet to help knock the rear barrel band off whil applying alot of pressure to the spring. Its all quite simple

Thanks for the reply Matt, Rifle appears to have been left on its side in the mud for the last 60 years as there is some pretty severe rust spots on the barrel, bands, and the pieec of metalwork just forward of where the bolt slides in, perhaps its not even worth replacing the parts as it's not going to be a collector piece , just a shooter. I picked it up for $30, call it first buyers impulse I guess. Been looking around and nice pieces here are about $400.

Do you know what parts will be specific to this particular k98?

thanks once again for your help

Hi, I am no expert, but I own several k98 rifles. Generally speaking, when regarding barrel bands/barrels, ect, parts are interchangeable between 1936 onward. The guys over at the k98 forum are full of information, and can eagerly assist you as well, I am certain.
Personally, I would love to see pics of this rifle, and would be tempted to leave it in original condition and configuration. To me it tells a story. Thanks for sharing.

Forgot to mention as well, being a 43 dated rifle, it almost certainly had parts serialed matching to the receiver, which would make the correct accurate restoration of this rifle impossible. Would love to see pics! Good luck,
                    Joe
