    StG 45 in the field

From Axis History Forum: with 30 round clip

Has anybody seen it before? Some say it might be a fake because of this black "t-shirt" under the uniform...

I would go along with it being a modern photo made up to appear old.....However I wouldn't classify it as a "fake" per se.....The weapon appears to be some sort of homemade item......I'd say used for reenacting.....Bodes

Also, note that there is no mag release mechanism where it's supposed to be

My feeling as well Gene! - Too much out in the open. Could be for an instruction manual, but I don't know what this picture is trying to teach (other then to NOT sit clearly visible).

The mag release as well as the cocking handle is on the other side of the weapon, like on a MP40. However white grips on a war weapon..? Highly unlikely. Im with the sceptics.

It could be a staged photo but I think it more likely that the photo is simply a retouched (a common practice) wartime image, possibly with the new weapon substituted for the original. Of course the image may also be genuine, with the details mentioned above obscured by the artist/photographer. Could it be that the grips appear white because the wood was unstained? A forensic examination down to pixel depth may be necessary to determine the real story.

Look at his trousers - are they Liebermuster, Leibermuster, Liebermeister or however in the world its supposed to be called? Almost looks like the way old DDR camo from the 60s looks...

I mean the plate thet keeps magazine in place - it is on the right side.

Or we can rely on the words of the person who first posted that image (on another forum):

The photo is actually of me. I 3D modeled an Stg-45 and composited it with Photoshop I posted it in here just to see if it would pass as a real photo.

Doesn't look like an MP-44. The barrel and upper reciever look to round and the rear sight looks wrong.

I have one original photo of an STG-45 in use. I'll try and post it later today.

Here's a thread from the G/K43 forum discussing MP45's......Some interesting similarities shown in the photo.....Bodes
