Latest Find! Another P38! AC43 inline!

Well guys, did some more shopping today, and picked up a nice undated P38 hoslter for my AC40. However, I also ran across this lovely vet bring back!
It's a late inline "AC43". In 1943 Walther continued producing the P38 of course with few changes from the 1942 version. However, sometime late in 1943, Walther switched it's markings to put the "AC" next to the date in an inline configuration after the serial number on the slide.
This is known as the "AC43" inline variation, and only about 20,000 were produced.
Later production in 1944 and 1945 also stayed with the inline configuration, but the "AC43" inline was the first to do so.

Gun is a true vet bring back, and came with this nice looking "43" dated holster as well.

    Enjoy,
    Matt

Left side view of the "AC43" inline. This is a true vet bring back. I know the lanyard loop is missing. The vet is writing me a letter up on it right now as I type. He says that the loop was gone when he picked it up! So it is a wartime damage.
Finish shows use, but not abuse. Just the way I like them!

Hope you all enjoyed my latest find!

              Matt,

It is kind of boring to say it again and again but... Nice find, as always!!
I know how hard is to resist when you find some nice rig as this one.

By the way: I also have a AC43 "m" block with code and date "in line". But there is another interesting (and exclusive) feature concernig this particular batch: it is the proof marks sequence stamped on the right side of the slide. Check here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=124608&page=2 (post #27) and you******180;ll see what I mean! As a P38 collector I bet you will enjoy it!

              Congratulations!

              Douglas.

                Douglas,

Yes, you are correct. The test fire eagle is located to the rear of the slide, and the two "eagle/359" are to the right of that. All other Walthers have the test fire proof in between the two waffenampts.

                Very interested observation!

                Matt
