Fake Lugers

Hello all

People often refer to fake Lugers and reproduction firearms, does anyone have anymore information or comments on these? The only “fake” firearms I have seen have been dummy lumps of metal made to look like the real thing, sometimes with working slides, removable clips etc. Are people actually making fully working repo firearms? Thanks in advance for any help.

They make blank firing pistols, Lugers, 45s, p38, and others for reenactors. Look pretty good and fuction like the original.

Hi Dez, at last years MAX show there was a P38 dual tone that was selling as original when in fact it had a rephosphate finish. A few of my friends that are dealers/collectors told me about it and I had to go over and look for myself. If you didn't know or see this type of finish before it would really fool you. A friend of mine bought a Japanese nambu at a different show with two matching mags and when he got it home under close examination one clip was original to the gun and the other clip had the numbers filled in with weld and buffed out smooth and restamped. Alot of unscrupulous dealers will try to make a more desirable gun out of a common one. It takes a lot of patience and with the right tools and know how it is being done. moremad DEL
