      RG34

      Great thread!
I have a .22 cal cleaning kit and it is undated and marked Appel, but it is painted not phosphated? The items included are .22cal pull chain, oiler, bore and chamber brush.
I have a RG34 '45 that should be here within the week and it will replace one needing love and attention that I will post on ebay.
BUT the one that gets me is a gray phosphate RG34 that is WaAmpt'ed and then marked with the following symbol; "A house with a huge sun directly behind it and the word HAWIG on the sun above the house. Any ideas?
I would love to hear what I might have!
      Regards,
      Robert

        Hello Robert,

I have a complete one of this maker, all parts stamped with the maker and/or WaA-stamp.

The maker is: Hawig, Hauswirthschafts-Maschinen GmbH, Alt-Moabit 73, Berlin NW87. Mine has WaA 94.

You say Yours is grey Phospahte. I thought mine has grey paint, but maybe I am wrong. Therefore it would be nice if Brian could show us a piece that has with no doubt Phosphate colour.

At least the HAWIG stamp with Logo should be pre-war or early war, because this company later used code cmr. I have one of these which has cmr 43. I thought the colour of this was darkgreen. But with reading this tread I imagine it could also be black. Have to look at it again.

Hope this thread will grow a bit more.

        Johannes

I have a 1944 kit for sale currently.

I am still looking for a nice 1945 kit with the stamped metal oiler.

I have seen a few of the Hawig kits at shows. not yet found a nice complete one that was worth picking up. some makers I have seen are Ab, Arr, G. Appel, Hawig, Ky, Mundlos, and several with only waffenamts, or unmarked. I think some enterprising individuals mark the un marked kits. I have seen many with dubious waffens and eagles on them at shows.
I only have a few kits in my collection. they are definitely interesting and many variations. I have a minty G.Appel 1938 kit which hangs out near my matching S/42 1938 K98. I also have a minty Arr4 kit which I keep with one of my G43's. I love the '44 and '45 dated stuff. dunno why, there is just something cool about it.
things like cleaning kits and bayonets were produced in small numbers in '44 and '45 as workers were freed up for military service. many of these items took a back seat in production to things of more importance like rifles, machine guns, and ammunition. anything 1945 dated is hard to find.
