A couple of months ago I sold a DDX manufactured ZF4 on ebay for $400. Most of the scopes I've seen offered hover around this price.

The windage cap being missing hurts the value alittle......"dow" and "ddx" scopes are about the same in value. A "bzz" scope or one marked "K43", or a Luftwaffe marked one would bring more in value. Condition means alot too.........$400 for the one you mention is about right today.

The $400.00 price is for an average ddx /dow scope in average condition.Pristine optics/pristine blueing/windage cap present price goes up,minimum $100.00-$200.00.Original rainshield, add $200.00.Original rubber eye cup add $100.00.As mentioned before late markings,luft.markings,etc. bring more.As far as the bzz marked scopes they are very rare and have been faked,I obtained mine 20 years ago(sn.3413).Today I would pass on most of them.A real one should bring $1500.00 minimum.

DWD is right on the money here.
$400 would be a good buy price for this scope. if I was selling it I would ask about $550.
A fellow collector is doing a zf4 serial number study. there is a long discussion on this study, values, how to spot fakes, rare markings, etc. on the G43 discussion forum mentioned in an earlier thread, on the scopes and mounts board there. I also have some information, parts and accessories for the zf4 as well as info on how to sight it in on a rifle on my website.

I bought mine for $475, but it included the case. I am not saying you did this, but NEVER use ebay dollars as a measure of value. Some things sell WAY TOO high, while others sell WAY TOO low. Yes, even the original stuff.

Anyone who bases value of items on ebay prices is a fool.Prices I use are based on what I see sell at Houston,Tulsa and S.O.S. in Louisville,Ky.That and more than 3 decades of collecting German service rifles.Yes,there are bargains still to be found but they are fewer today than ever before, especially when new books on the subject come out ,ie;Hitler's Garands,by my good friend Darrin Weaver. His is a must have book and not because I have items in it.His research is 1st. rate and Senich's book ,while still a great source is now dated.
