I don't know about Uruguay, but prices in the USA vary alot. The thing about Lugers is the wide variety and rarity of some. Just to give you a quick answer, the price I paid four years ago for a BYF 42 1939, all matching, non-import, 95% condition, and fully functional Luger was $900. I had it appraised by one of our local dealers/collectors last year and he said it would probably sell for around $1100 at a show.

I hope more of the serious Luger and gun collectors can give you a better price range than that.

      P-08 Price

Jason is correct, price on any Luger depends on maker and condition.Prices can range from shooter grade to collector. If a shooter is what you are looking for than 5-700 USD may get you one.Collecting Lugers can be an expensive hobby.I have five starting with 3 from 1906 that I have insured for 15,000.00.Once you get a Luger you will want a collector holster, extra magazine, and take down tool to make what we call, a complete rig.
Jason I need some info from you.You stated you had a 1939 BYF 42?NO WAY-a BYF Mauser 42 was made in 1942,not 1939.I'm pretty sure this is a fact.If indeed it is marked 1939 somewhere it is a mismatched gun and you know what that means.I'm not trying to be rude, just informative.
      Kind Regards
      Danny

I noticed that too, regarding byf42 1939. A 1939 Mauser made P08 should have a 42 code not byf. Only the 1941 & 1942 had the byf code.

I agree that prices vary a lot. Really depends on what you're after

          Holla Tiger,

The gun´s prices down here in South America are completely different from those from US and Europe. And WWII Luger are not often seen around, as only Brazil sent troops to fight in war (and the soldiers were forbidden to bring back such things).

On the other hand Imperial Lugers are more common to be found, but their prices may vary drastically. However, you may have luck and find one for a reasonable price as many of them are in non-collector hands that sometimes doesn´t know what they have and their value.

          Good luck,

          Douglas.

You are correct fellows. It is not a byf 42. It is just a 42 made in 1939. I was thinking of my p38 that is a byf, I have no idea why I typed such sillyness. Must be the late nights with the new baby...
