Hi all, i am new to this firearm thing, so i have to seek opinions from you experts here.
I am offered with this Luger. The dealer said this is very rare and throw at me so much jargons that i cannot understand. Here is a discription I asked him to send to my email so i can ask you guys for opinions.
"a 1939 model part of the procurement made under the orders of Heinrich Himmler to modernize and equip the Police [SD and Gestapo] by a central procurement agency. The guns ordered were from a specific range of known and recorded serial numbers, this gun was in the 'X' range [between numbers 258x to 767x] of the 1939 order, and it's number is 425x, the guns official acceptance mark was 'Eagle L' which this gun also clearly has. This Luger also has scarcely seen Police Unit markings on the front grip strap. These pistols from that order are eagerly sought and recognized as the best to own. They are also so well highly valued as to be much faked in America, but they lack the correct serial range and the 'Eagle L' mark that must be present to be original. These specific pistols were ordered [according to Speer] in 1945 to be transferred to the use of the Army, so, many were lost forever in Russia. This is one of the very few remaining that escaped the of fate being lost. Furthermore it saw later service in the German Police after the War. The numbers are all matching [except magazine] and the condition is most reasonable considering it's long and good service."
He is making an offer of US$2450, do you think it is reasonable.
There is another P38 model he is offering, which i can post up here later.
