Old spec UK Deac cert query

Can anyone clarify this for me?

I have been offered an old spec UK deac Artillery Luger but the cert is missing. Can this be replaced without the piece being mangled up to the latest spec to get a cert? I have not commited to this as its an offer I have just received.

    Any help appreciated.

    regards,

    Neil

    Hi Neil,

Not exactly 100 % on this but,
I once read somewhere that if the certificate is lost the weapon has to go back to the proof house to get a new cert.

Only thing is,the weapon has then to be mangled to current spec.

Then again I have also read that you don't actually need a cert for a deac!

So,I'd check up with someone first though so you get a definate answer!!

    Kind regards,
    Andy

First off i will say it is perfectly ok to own a deact without a cert aslong as it has the stamp on the metal it will be fine but if you do want the cert it costs £40 and it dosent have to be deact to current specs you just take the gun down there they check it out and issue you a new ticket my mate did it but even so Pistols arnt deact any differnt to the pre 95 specs unless there really early specs my p38 cocks and dry fires and has only had the F/pin cut and a pin in the barrel and was done in november last year the same as my mates who had his done in 95
