    Real Xpectations?

To All The Fine Gents of This Forum: Being a long time German military collector, I recently decided to venture into new territory.....Through the fortunate acquisition of some nice U.S. military clothes/helmet, I had the notion of trying to piece together the field gear liken to what my Great Uncle would've worn in the second world war.....Being a sergeant, he carried a Thompson submachine gun as I have a picture of him doing so......So now my question.....How difficult is it to find original Thompson web gear and where would one begin to look?......Ammo Pouches and anything else which might've gone along with such......As usual any advice/opinions appreciated and encouraged.....Bodes

    A good place to start--

    Bodes---
A worthy task you have there lad!! I think an excellent idea. As to where to start, I do have a recommendation.
He goes by the ebay user name of TEXASPACKRAT. Jake Glickman's shop in Big Spring Texas has some of the most complete sets of gear I have ever seen, including the National Museums. And, it's all legit. No fakes here. And, what I would consider fair prices. Jake is a good guy, so call him at 432-267-7501, or email @ antiquemilitary@sbcglobal.net.
I've known and done business with Jake for some time now, and would recommend him to anyone. His "store" has to be seen to be believed!!

    Good luck, and good hunting

      Un-issued

      Bodes,

I have un-issued Thompson pouches and belts all WWII issue marked and dated.

Many Thanks Ronnie & Robert, I will certainly take both recommendations into consideration......I know of a local miltary collector/dealer who was selling off Thompson parts kits with dummy receivers......Have to see IF he still has any...First things first.....Thanks again gents.........Bodes

Actually the Thompson mags and pouches are very easy to find, and can be found in minty, un-issued condition!

I see that Robert already clued you in on his stash!

The mags are easy to find as well. Just look in Gun List, Shotgun News, any of the gun websites, like gunbroker or auctionarms. Also most larger guns shows will have them as well (Like the Louisville show this month!)

            Thompson

IMA had (or has) a bunch of Thompson related stuff, I think I noticed that Sarco did as well a while back, check out a backissue of the Shotgun news. Chris..
