    Yes it is. It is for use off of the Lafette mount.

      Gary! Thanks for confirming that.
      Havent purchased the MG book by Folke Myrvang yet, but I was sure that I recalled it from his book.
      Do anyone have a period photo showing it in use?

        Is there not a war-time manual for the MG13 or MG34 where this protactor is illustrated with how its used?

          It would seem that the Messdreieck in the picture is indeed as the caption describes it. It's for the map case. The MG Messdreieck seems to be a bit different in the picture in my 1943 Police Leitfaden. The head seems quite similar, but the arms are different.

          There are 3 pages of directions in this book, but I don't have it translated into English yet. I've translated a few small sections to include with some of the other manuals I sell, but haven't seen a Messdreieck in person, so I never got around to translating that part.
