        Gary,
How was the hopper used?? Would you find this at the factory?/

          Hi Ronnie,

The hopper would catch the ammunition as it came down the chute after being loaded. Then when the hopper was full a person would push it over to another chute and using a lever on the side he can open a gate on the bottom so the rounds pour out the bottom and continue on hteir way to the next part of the process. And yes this was used in the plant itself.

            I absolutely love that hopper!!

I have never seen one before, and you may have the only one still around.

How did you find such a treasure?

Crazily enough I was cruising through a flea market in Kalifornia when I came upon the owner loading it back into his truck. I asked why he was packing it back up and his complaint was that all anybody wanted were mining carts(which this looks like) and he just got tired of the dumb questions. The sale was negotiated in 5 seconds flat!

I wonder how many of those were turned into flower planters around St. Louis over the years.

                  Another little piece to add.....
