Tips on bying a Steyr S1-100 smg.

    Hello all.
I have been offered a Steyr S1-100 smg for my collection.
I woonder if u can give me some tips on what markings to look after.
I know that this kind of smg was used by several countrys in the 30`
    .
If it is a German used smg i dont know. The Smg is in MINT condition, allmost museum quality. And here is where i am going to dissapoint u, i am going to have it deacted.

So what marking should i look after?
Where should the marking be placed?
    Price?
What country is the most wanted after a German used gun?
Other tips on what to check are welcome.

Hi SweSA, most seen on the market over here in the UK are ex Portugese contract examples. These have a large crest stamped on top of the receiver.

Here is a website with a little bit of info on the gun:

    http://www.germanmilitaria.co.uk/misc.htm#mp38intr

A search on MP34 on the forum will also bring up a few bits of info.

    Cheers, Ade.

Just had a quick look in one of my books; they were also exported to Japan, Spain and South America. The gun was also made with different barrel lengths and calibers from 7.63 Mauser and 9mm Steyr. Sorry I cannnot give you any more details.

        Cheers, Ade.

          Hello Adrian.

After i have looked more closely at the pictures in your link, i can say that it is NOT the same gun, wery simular, but not the same.

The safety relase is in front off the trigger on "my" gun.
The rear end of "my" stock is bent.

The seller says that is is a Steyr Model 1931- made in 1934.
          It uses 9mm ammo.
The onley marking on this gun is a 4 digit serial number- thats all.
