    Mint ZF4 sniper scope

My uncle recently died and my aunt just gave me this scope per his wishes. He was an avid hunter and well known for his marksmanship abilities. He worked for a major U.S. Industrial machinery manufactuer as one of their head mechanical engineers. One of the men who worked with him early on had worked for the Aberdeen Proving Grounds during the war testing all types of German small arms. When the war ended the Army told him that they had one of everything they wanted and that whatever was left he could do with as he saw fit. So, he took it all home and filled his basement with it. For years my uncle would buy beautiful K98 rifles from him only to break them down for their receivers, rebuilding them with Douglas supreme barrels and hand cutting and finishing the stocks from blanks of walnut etc. At some point my uncles friend gave him this ZF4 G/K43 sniper scope that was part of the Aberdeen hoarde. When my uncles friend died in the early 70's, his wife called my uncle to the house and sold him more items. One of the items he was offered (but had never been registered) was an FG42 which he unfortunately had to pass on.

Although this scope is one of the nicest I have seen, it evidently came withouth it's mount.

    Regards,

    Chuck

Very nice scope Chuck. The green triangle very interesting, as most are blue. Means the scope was for use in tropical regions.
