P08 marking

What could be this marking on the left side of a 1917 DWM artillery P08 with english arsenal proofing?

I think the marking is "NOT ENGLISH MADE", except there are no spaces in between the words.

Such markings were, apparently, required under British gun import laws and are frequently seen in conjunction with Enghlish import proofed guns.

I think the phrase "NOT ENGLISH MADE" is intended to denote that the gun was imported into England, i.e. was of foreign rather than domestic origin.
