    Question about my K98

I just bought a K98 online a few days ago. When I checked the receiver for codes it read 27 and 1938, meaning it was made by EMRA in 1938. The other code for that year and manufacturer is S/27. I am wondering if one or the other is rare or if both were relatively common codes.

DJ, First of all welcome to the forum......One must realize that any pre-war rifle is somewhat rare......These can be some of the tougher rifles to find in all matched, original condition.......They can be somewhat tough because a large share were lost on the eastern front.....RC's on the other hand is another story......My advice is get a copy of Laws book "Backbone of the Wehrmacht"....Although not perfect, it can give you an idea of production #'s on certain contractor's....Law estimates 168,000 rifles made with these codes.....Bodes
