Well I picked up a k98 stock that I know had been sanded but how thorougly I dont know. Its a dou 43 all matching (vet bring back obviously) and I have an extensive K98 book that I have read cover to cover. Anyways I have used a magnifying glass and held the rifle at all angles to make sure the stock didnt have an eagle stamp on it. And according to this k98 book, by and large companies stopped stamping stocks 1943 and later. Well recently I find a byf 44 with an eagle stamp on the stock so it makes me wonder, did the dou 43 really have a stamp but mine was just sanded really well? By the lackluster sanding job that has scraped some of the blueing I assume not. So the question is are dou 43 k98s supposed to be stamped with the german eagle on the stock by the butt plate?
Thanks
