That holster would retail for between 5 and 6 hundred dollars, easily. The mag appears to a postwar replacment, 70s or 80s vintage as I recall. I too would really like to know any stampings that may be present on the Luger.

Post war assembly seem to get a lot groans on these type examples, but I've seen people offer 4k+ for post war assembled "PX" Kriegoffs....go figure...

On the clips I forgot there were originally two mint clips (so called black widow types) with maker marks but the vet or his wife were talked out of them this year sometime with the postwar one thrown in as a replacement. The markings on this gun are S/42 on top of the slide along with two waffenampts. One w.ampt is number 65 under the eagle and the other one looked like Jt.3 (according to my friend). The date 1940 is on top and there is a small no. 42 on the side of the saftey lever. He said there was also a small number (prob. manufactureres no.) on the pivet round arm on top where the slide goes back but he'd have to field strip it to see clearly. The grips are also w.amted also. She wants 1200 for this pistol but if it's a parts gun -- I don't know. It does have a sweet holster though.

My inclination is that this Luger is assembled later in the war, possibly at a Depot level facility out of spare parts. The S/42 toggle and the 1940 chamber date are certainly out of sequence parts. It could also be a post war assembled Luger, but I see this less likely as there is no serial number and most post war made up items such as this, had one.

Regardless of it's exact origin, I think that 1200 is reasonable in that this is a near mint Luger as originally assembled and the holster is very very nice.
