Hello, The LP-42 you pictured with the Laminated hammer is an early one. All early LP-42 flareguns with laminated hammers are early or type 1 versions. They produced over 50,000 of them, out of a total production of over ~180,000.

The solid hammer version made up the balance.

            ayf,

These Fangriemen were used for both types of LP, and are sometimes encountered.
            http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H046757.html
You also find pics where Germans use breadbagstraps to secure there pistols and LP's.

The holster and strap Kris is showing are mine.
Mr Kern is also showing a web holster and Fangrieme in his book.
The holster in his book has a closure with pressure button, mine has a regular holster closure with strap and button like on most holsters.
The web used is identical to the one used for web P37(h) pistols.
The rivets are the same as used on K43 pouches.
The overal construction is 100% German (stitchings,...)
And most important: this holster smells as it has been in a warehouse for more than 50 years.
This holster came out of a Norwegian depot and was never issued.
It came out together with the first lot of LP-holsters (1st model).

I hope this will help you.
            Kind regards,

            Frank

              Nice flares you all have!
Is it true that early LP42's had apart from differences in construction, differences in finishing?
I mean I have seen several early LP42's that were blued, and people have meant that this is a postwar finish. But the blueing seemed to be old, typical for german weapons.

                  AYF,

I bought this lanyard and holster about 10 years ago from an English dealer.
I suspect you're a little sceptical. Do you have some evidence of known fakes?
The link in my previous mail is the first lanyard I see for sale on internet.
If I were a faker I would make several examples and they would show up on internet as a part of a new found depot in Russia!.

If you want I can send you some better pictures for study.
I' m aware these holsters are not common and pictures are not known, being suspicious is normal this case .

                  Here's my mailadress : frank_de_smedt@telenet.be

Send me a mail and I will send pics.
If you will have some comments (pos. or neg.) I would be pleased if you share these on this forum because your name AYF makes me think you're a LP-enthousiastic.

                  Looking further to your comments,

                  FRANK

I collect flare guns yes,i have the same lanyard type as you have.it is a tread on Wermacht awards about this type lanyards. Many lanyards of this type was for sale on e-bay for some months ago,its a little bit strange when so many scare lanyards suddenly appear on e-bay,but perhaps its a old stock.

                    Regards from Norway
