    another dumb question

I have just gotten into collecting weapons of ww2 so I need some help. How can I tell if my k98 is an import? Andy

    Where to Look??

    Andy,
Most often ( but not always) the importers will roll-stamp their name and location on the bottom of the bbl, somewhere in front of the forearm around the bayonet lug. Generally, it'll be small. Might have to look pretty carefully. Sometimes it has been known to appear under the furniture. Some are pretty obvious, some are not.

P.S. The question is NOT dumb!!!
The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

      Andy,

This is certainly not a dumb question. The import marks on K98s are usually located on the underside of the barrel between the bayonet lug, and the muzzle.

Thanks for the help. No marks found however there is a funny little mark under thr serial number that looks like a upside down '!' would you guys have an idea adout this. I would post a pic but my cameria will not zoom in that close and get a good shot. The weapon is marked AR 43 if that helps. I have attached these pics for you below
