    French Model 1935A

I have found what appears to be fine French Model 1935A. It has the proper E/WaA251 proof.
My books, (Axis Pistols & German Pistols & Holsters) says the slide and barrel are stamped with last 2 digits of S/N. Seller says the slide and barrel are unmarked. Would it be common pratice to replace these 2 parts with unmarked parts.
I only want correctly marked pistols and if this one is mismatched, then I don't need it. Other than these 2 parts, its a fine looking pistol

Don ; I have encountered french small arms that were german used that had an unusually large number of unserialed/proofed parts. Seems the germans took alot of unassembled items from french plants/manufacturers/depots and assembeld same for their use. It may very well be proper.Good pics of where the parts would normally be serialed or in hand inspection would tell if seriels were removed and then refinished. Sadly alot of german used weapons suffer the fate of the frauds looking for bucks these days.

      Hi Don,

I agree with gew98. I also think it is no sign of being not period original.
Is your gun a so called S.A.C.M pistol ?

Thanks for the information. I'm still undecided on this one. I have all of Whittington's books and Axis Pistols. So far I have done pretty good on my pistol buys following the info in the books and maybe I passed up some good ones.

Yes, it is marked S.A.C.M. I don't have it in hand, so I can only rely on what the seller tells me. He says its original, vet bring back, but I've heard those comments before.

          Don,

Maybe the seller isn't looking good.
My MAB D (see the recent thread) has the 2 last letters of the s/n on the slide but very tiny and at the underside of the slide, on one of the guiding 'rails' if you like. You have to pull back the slide and turn the gun or dismantel it to see it.
On the barrel mine has no s/n or fireproof. So maybe it's a (period?) replacement.
          Hope this helps.
          Greets,
          Kris
