Boer Rifles and Carbines of the Anglo-Boer War by R. Bester?

Hi all - Does anyone have a copy of this book and can scan a couple of pages for me? Please PM me if so. Thanks, Bob

Did I ever tell you about the time I bought a nice but unidentified Mauser 7mm rifle from a local collector for next to nothing, then wondered what the "O.V.S." stamped into it over the 4 digit SN meant for several years? I also wondered about the DWM only markings and why it was stamped "Mod. Mauser 1897". Then, many years ago, how I spotted the Bester book on a table at a local show when it was selling for only twice what I paid for the rifle, thumbed through it, and found my rifle was among the last shipment of rifles DWM sent to the Boers during the South African war? No? Remind me to tell you about that some time.

        Boer War Rifles

        Hello Badbob,

I do not think that there is a large colletor community on these boards of people who collect boer war stuff.

You should try this site out:

        http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/

You have to become a member before you can post but it has a good milsurp section and the guys there know alot about Boer war rifles.

Thanks Cam, I'll look into that. I thought there might be a Mausers-in-general collector here who'd have the Bester book, so I posted the story of why I was looking. - Bob
