    Hello,
Could someone please tell me more about the markings. Would it also be 7.92 or 8mm?

      markings

I can give you a couple of tips- code is CE 41, JP Sauer production of 1941. The triangle markings on the reciever and barrel are Iraqi property marks, meaning this rifle was sold to Iraq and used by them in some capacity. Hard to tell what caliber it is, but most Iraqi 98k's are 8mm Mauser.

Wow that is awesome...yes it was found in Iraq (and still is there).
Any idea when Iraq brought the weapon?
Any idea what it is worth?
Any more info would be great.
        Thanks...

Value? In Iraq, maybe worth 3 magazines full for the AK47 in trade. In the US (which it will never be) approx $150-$250 depending on several factors.

Now- when did Iraq get these? Some came through East Germany somehow (based on observed markings). You see all types- post war Czech, reworked WW2, original WW2, you name it. If I had to guess, I would say they came to Iraq in the late 40's or 50's-- I am sure someone knows for certain-- most likely when Iraq was undergoing the post war refrom period, after British rule?

Many were surplused to the US market after the first gulf war.
