Any help with this pistol would be appreciated. What is it, what is the value etc. Here are the markings: On the Cylindar the serial #11486 On the Stock left side serial #11486 On the Stock right side #79197.13 a symbol with {S.Marke} Under rear Site = L. Grasser Under L. Grasser = WIEN Under WIEN = Ottakring Under Ottakring = Patent Under Patent = #11486 Under 14486 = Gussstahl Under Gussstahl is another Symbol that looks like a crown? On top of the Barrel rear site it looks like a crown with the initials N.I. On the Bridge of the gun there is an LW and another Symbol I can't quite make out On the Handle there is a ring

    Pics Please

    Hello,

I think that you are going to have to provide some pictures of the pistol. It does sound like some of the parts are matching though.

      Hey Harry,

A picture would be a tremendous help. As it sits we can't tell you much as we don't even know what the caliber is! It could be an 1880's revolver up to a 1900's based on what you have given us.

I would type to a Gasser Montenegro revolver, but the pics would be great, Leopold Gasser was the producer and his firm produced various models of revolvers in late 19.century, Ottakring is a location of Wienna city, Gussstahl is material of steel used on this piece, crown above NI could be initial of king of Montenegro Nicola I., LW and eagle date proofs could mean ,that this was used for Landwehr units of AU army, when You have pictures, send it to Blazicek@infostat.sk

Andy asked where the "LW" is located and the number of cartridges this pistol holds. The LW is on the right side of the pistol just in front of the cylinder. The pistol holds 5 rounds.

Hello, by the revolver could be MonteNegrian M1880 officers model, the caliber should be 11mm, LW markings could be in two forms, as acceptance of Landwehr proof with eagle and date or with unit marking, so any numbers should be near LW. Best regards,Andy

I agree with Andy that it is probably a 1880 officers revolver. I can't figure out why the image won't shrink down, but until then that is the best guess. Harry can you take some better focused pictures?
