    German Ammo Box markings

Probably a simple question, but what does i. L. and S. m. K. stand for on these ammo boxes?

    Thanks,
    Tony

    Tony,

"i.L." means "im Ladenstreifen" or "on stripper clips". Are the stripper clips present?

"S.m.K" means "Spitzgeschoss mit Kern" or "armor piercing bullet", and "L'Spur" means "Leuchtspurmunition" or "tracer ammo", and "gelb" is "yellow tracer".

      Willi,
Thanks for the information on the ammo boxes. Boxes were unopened, so I'm not sure if the stripper clips were present. Good seeing you at the OVMS show

Tony, yes good seeing you at the show as well.

The box should not be sealed. If you carefully pull open the top it will fold up. Then you will see whether the strippers are there.

When I used to collect the WWII 8mm, I always made sure the rounds matched the label. There is a lot of information on the lid which should match the casing, markings, color of primer sealant, bullet tip, etc.

          Willi,
Yes the box was not sealed. However, there were no stripper clips inside but there was more information on the lid. Thanks for the help
