Looks like the barrel was replaced, so not all matching serial numbers, but still very rare. And a nice condition rare Mündungsschoner !

Ukrainer, does this Mp38 belong to you? If so, what is its NFA status (i.e. live gun or "Dewat"). Assuming it is yours and located with you in Vermont, then it has a "sister" MP38 located over in Cavendish with a guy who frequents this forum.

No, this MP 38 belongs to a friend of mine who lives in Siberia in Russia and collects weapons of the Third Reich. I created this thread to show such a rare early example at his request. Moreover, there are not enough photos of similar samples in detail on the Internet.
It is deactivated because Russian legislation does not allow the possession of automatic weapons.

The guy from Cavendish also has a 1938 MP38?

Yes, barrel and some parts together with it were replaced. I suppose that the first barrel has been replaced simply because of deterioration.

The owner purchased this sample in Norway, where the MP 38 and MP 40 have been in service for a long time.
Unfortunately, the reason for the removal of the number is unknown, but it clearly happened in Norway.
Perhaps this is due to a very humane deactivation - now in Norway, weapons are deactivated much more strictly. The number could have been removed to complicate tracking of non-standard deactivation in the event of a sample being found during transportation to Russia.
