    Dating M1 Carbine Rock-Ola

    Hello!
    I've got a question about a M1 carbine. The manufacturer is Rock-Ola.
    The serial number is:

    1907392

Can someone tell me if this is a ww2 , or post ww2 weapon?
Just let me know if you need more information.

I hope someone can help me!

    greetings,
    Frank

Frank, It’s WWII and the serial number is a little outside of the first production block, but circa 1943 I think is a fair guess as to the date. What are the barrel markings? FP

      Frank,

      All M1 carbines are WWII!
Production stopped that the end of the war. The M2 carbine was produced after WWII, but was made only by Inland and Winchester.

So your Rock-ola is definately WWII production, but could very well have been arsenal re-furbished after WWII or later in the war, with certain modifications made to it. (such as round bolt, low wood stock, bayonet lug, flip safety, adjustable sight, and so on.....)
The features that it has along with serial number, maker, and condition will determine the value of this carbine.

        Hello!
I learn every day new things! Thanks for the information.

I think there happens a lot with this carbine.

        here are the markings:

Behind the rear sight the serial number and factory?:
        Quality H.M.C.(under the sight)
        1907392

        On top:
        US Carbine
        Cal. .30 M1

        At the barrel:
        Rock-ola

        At the front sight:
        J-Q.

At the trigger house: (below, at the metal around the trigger)

        WBS-Kar 33
        Isn't this a strange marking?

        At the front Belt hook:
        mmq

Should the wood have markings? It only has the initials G.W. at the bottom.

What do you think of these markings?
I see 2 different makers. Is this strange?

        Thanks!

        Frank

The "Quality H.M.C." actually means your carbine is a Quality Hardware, with a Rockola barrel, and not, as you originally thought, a Rockola carbine.
FWIW, Jouster's has one of the best online forums for carbines (and most other US martial small arms)...lots of RKIs there who can telll you almost anything you need (or want) to know about your carbine.

                Quality Hardware Carbine

                Frank,
Your carbine is, as the others say, a Quality Hardware Mfg. Co. QHMC was one of the 11 mfgrs who churned them out. QHMC did not have the facility to make their own bbls, so turned to other contractors to supply them. Rock-Ola was one of the bbl suppliers to QHMC. Others that you will find on QHMC receivers are Inland, Buffalo, Saginaw SG, Winchester, IBM and Underwood. The Rock-Ola bbls were furnished thru about 6-43.
As to the rest of the parts of your carbine, it appears to be an arsenal rebuild, as most are. MANY carbines were left in Europe after WWII for use by German and other civil units. Police, and organizations like that.
Be VERY,VERY careful. carbines are extremely addictive!!!
                Hooked for life

                  Haha! I'll be carefull Ronnie!

Do you know by the wat what the
acceptance marking "H" ,inside something that looks like a shield, means?

                  Thanks!

                    Frank,
That would probably be the mark on your adjustable rear sight. I'll have to get my references and see exactly what company produced that mark.

Well, it's HAMPHILL Mfg. Company. They made parts for carbines adjustable sights and hammers

Ronnie is correct, and very well informed on the M1 carbine subject!

I too have a M1 carbine by Quality Hardware, and it has a barrel from "Buffalo Arms".
