Hello all,

It seems that this fellow has been collecting guns around here for the last 50 yrs or so. All told he had close to 400 firearms in his house and a couple thousand rounds stored as well. While it is true that he had stored them improperly it still does not make these weapons a major threat to anyone in the community. He had many rare pieces from all countries. Now the police have seized all the firearms as well as several German daggers and a "Nazi" flag that his uncle had brought home from Germany.
Most of his weapons were registered and from what I can gather he was in the process of registering the rest. All that said the real travesty is that now that the police have seized all the weapons (which were legally purchased I might add) the risk is there that these pieces will all be sent to the foundry. As a matter of fact, my sources in the local police dept. have informed me that regardless of the outcome of the pending court case they most likely will be.
I should state that this fellow and I are not related. As a matter of fact I have only met him a couple of times at my place of business. I would like to start some sort of petition or outcry of support should these weapons be deemed to destruction. Not support for the owner but support for the historical value of the guns. I will suggest that these pieces be distributed to a museum or museums but have no idea how to start the process. If there are any other locals out there or just anyone that has an opinion please feel free to post
That's my two cwnts.
Thanks fellows,
Greg
