is it just me or is there something fishy about these two rifles

they both have sight hoods and early proof marks on the stocks when the transition from weirmar (sp) to nazi eagles were made, and the 1939 looks a little weird, its just my opinion but what do you guys think, because i know you guys know a ton more than me

its quite normal to see sight hoods on rifles from any year of manufactory, the rifle looks reblued.

and i dont like the look of the bakelite at all.

Dude, never mind the sight hoods or transitional proofs... doesn't it strike you as odd that this same seller is listing "two" of these "one of 24 experimental rifles made" ?
These are cheesy reproduction stocks & not particularly good ones either; Leon (LMD militaria) has a legit one on his website and the differences are night & day...

What audacity listing two repro stocks at the same time!

exactly, these stcoks are supposed to bakelite, not plastic, bakelite is not red like that, and those eagles on the stock, upon further inspection, look horrible.

This dude is realy unbelieavable! Take a closer look at the stocks, and you will see that the two rifles are pictured with the same stock! Still he claims that the numbers are all matching on both! A big time scam if I ever saw one! As for the stock, it is an original! The texture of the bakelite and the markings are correct. As for the production figure of 24: just bollocks! I have seen 7 of these over the years, so I would guestimate the production run of these to be much higher. Still a very nice stock.......

Bakelite and its phenolic resin close “cousins” can be different colors. What is interesting is that this stock material appears to be a perfect match in appearance to the O.E.M. Chinese SKS stocks that were made of plastic resin and fiberglass that were available perhaps 10 years ago.

I think that I will save my $12,000 for the next one that comes along. FP

Thanks for pointing that out before we got bogged down in minutiae.

Respectfully, your comment re sight hoods is incorrect. A sight hood will be present on a '40 date or earlier rifle only if that rifle has been reworked after 1940. Original German reworks are scarcer than factory original rifles.

                    Caveat emptor

Graf is right- use some common sense.

I will say again-- Someone Announced Recently a Company Over here made some resin stocks in the Phillipines- these appear to be from that run. A fellow on Gunsamerica had more than 5 to sell recently.

Believing this were real would be a rookie mistake.

Phenolic Resin.....I just love to say Phenolic Resin .....It's the same composite the Germans used on their laminated stocks....And don't be so negative, after all he lowered his price from $15K to $12K......Bodes

                            Only because of this:

                            http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976606060.htm

One needs to see this for a real comparison:

                            http://lmd-militaria.com/page80.html

Exactly how many is he listing?

he has two that he's listing right now but he might have a lot more, all his other rifles are fakes or redone right?
