Just want to show a rare sling!! 1944 made.

Hi

I found a very rare 1944 sling between my German slings (were 3000 2 years back..still 300 left I think)

That one is very late..it even hase a hit together pin..earlyer they welded and machined..till it what flat. I observed also other styles 44 slings..like with 2 stitchings in the leather at the bucke..have seen a Dkk 4 hit in the back of the leather and have seen a DKK 44 marked sling (on the keeper)

Just want to show this one..because nearly nobody hase seen an original German ww2 1944 sling.

Watch out when you see such sling..because late slings come close to the Austrian postwar slings..and a ink-mark is pritty easy to make. So just e-mail me when you want some advice for free(sent me photo`s).(they call me sling-king)

This sling will stay in my own collection!! I can see if a sling is genuine WW2 German..otherwise..repro`s does not come from a old dark Wehrmacht stock. :-)

One more nice sling..

Dvr43 (1943 made)

This one is welded and smooth machined on the side of the buckle.

Further matching ink-markts on the back of the sling and the keeper, wich is not regualair! Most German slings have only a mark on the back of the sling and or on only the keeper.

This sling hase further an unclear (not shown) eagle WaA on the back, a Kar. mark(always blue ink) in the middle (also seen more to the buckle) and a number on the dead end of the sling wich is ofter close to 100(also on the 44 sling). The buckle of the sling is marked with "L&F" have also seen between my slings "D&C / S-tree-C.

I don`t know what that means..but many slings have it! Probably you can only see that when your sling is mint.

I may post more info later..so just check the post ones in a time.

I made one more photo...to make clear the difference between the buckles.

Unwelded/unmachined and hit in place

and the earlyer war welded and flat machined buckle side.


Note that this is not always,,have seen 44 slings with machined bucle side.

see left a postwar Austrian sling with later added 1944 mark(the postwar mark is removed), and right a original German WW2 sling.

further expaination:

German ww2 keepers does not have stitching above the leather, further you`ll find lines on each side from the leather-loop on the keeper.

The holes from the postwar slings are just to big, see both slings! only worned holes could be that big, those are just cut-off to big!

I see also that those stitches are not right..and so does that buckle not,but will keep that point aside!!


I don`t profide more facts..this is enough to proof it`s postwar.

Keeper!

Most eary keepers have a brass stud (some people think that only postwar slings have that,,but that isn`t true)

Some keepers have diamond pattern all over the place..and some just not.

Many early slings are also seen with iron stud..some early keepers could be some longer and wider. the stud could have also a other shape..more rounded.

see some photo`s and check what I mean. Note the 2 lines..with even some diamond patter on the keepers-loop. You can even see that on used slings..when you look very well.

BTW those keeper are from mint slings..and rare! Not for sale!

Tommy, An impressive display!! I would like to thank you for making the effort to share your knowledge which is in one of the (many) areas that I would like to know more about. Sometimes slings are just attached to rifles without thinking a lot about them, myself included, and your information will help in minimizing errors. FP

PS: Have you seen the usually new condtion postwar German slings, without the leather on the keeper, that I believe were intended for German service use from perhaps at least 20 or more years ago?

It`s just that I see so many frauds..and postwar slings who are transformed to "German ww2 slings". So I like to made some things clear for people!!

I don`t know which German postwar slings you mean..I only know that the Austrian k98k and Mp40 slings are the best fakers for people.

The difference is a little welded point on the side....But as you can see on my 44 sling...that there is also a point..not welded...but it could fake people.

I think that the recently bla1944 slings faked also a lot of people yet!!

I still sell German ww2 slings...without faking..with marks etc. I would be a rich guy when I did... hehe

Will ad more need info laterrrrr..when I have some new need info!!
