    Brno 98k

Is there any way to determine the year of manufacture on a late Czech model 98k? My problem is the top of the reciver on my rifle has been scrubbed off. All that is left are the czech lions on the side of the reciver and barrel, the serial number "3844 F", and "Ceskoslovenska Zebrojovka, A.S, Brno."

The stock is laminated, has no takedown disc, and has a hole drilled through the lower part of a cupped but plate. There is no hole in the stock for a cleaning rod and it has the stamped winter trigger gaurd.

I am thinking that this is either a late war or imediate post war rifle with the crest scrubbed off the top of the reciver.

This one seems to be a bit of an odd ball as I can't realy find any documentation on them in Mauser referances.

    Thanks,
    Rob

rob; global arms was selling these for years in gun magazines. Said they were captured czech 98s and german winter trigger guards for the russian front and never made it? I have one too, they are really nice gun. Bill V
