      Hi Bill,

yet more nice stuff. Did the Luger and holster come your way together as a pair?

Also....not the correct forum i know, but as a fieldgear fan i do have to say that is very interesting to see a web "D" ring still with a visible marking .

      Very uncommon indeed.

A new day, new treasures to view!

      Patrick.

PS. Steve, congratulations on a fine example, nice to see a quality item in the UK and not the usual mis-matched, re-blued rubbish that does the rounds over here.

The luger and holster were together with matching magazine and a unnumbered S/42 replacement magazine.. BILL

As usual Bill, Some very nice stuff! Excellent looking rig.

Very interesting holster as well. I'm wondering why the model designation is marked between the belt loops rather than towards the top right of the obverse side? Holster looks great though!

I've seen a lot of variety as to where, how and if 1940 dated P.08 holsters were model marked. I guess that 1940 being the year the model markings were introduced or at least mandated, a number of the holsters were retro stamped either while still at the maker or maybe even after they were shipped to the depots...this is just conjecture on my part. It may also be that the locations of the marking was no specifed at first or was misunderstood. At any rate I have a 1940 dated P08 holster that has the P08 ink stamped under the flap in large letters. I have seen other variety in placement on holsters from this date and a few of the 1940 dated holsters that simply had no model stamping.
